Tribal leaders’ voice inspires future landscape-protection work
Much of the Intertribal Gathering process work is being guided and conducted in a honorable way by both elder and youth participants, which will lead to several important initiatives for the Native America Program over the next 3 years.
Since establishing the Intertribal Gatherings, we have been supporting the work tribes, communities, and organizations are undertaking in the four key areas by providing financial and technical assistance, mobilizing and building capacity, engaging youth, and serving as advisors. We have also incorporated the sharing of traditional culture, teachings, issues, and effective problem-solving methods into current initiatives. In all our efforts, participants have stressed the importance of keeping the processes honorable and traditional, which we are upholding.
