Congressional hearing April 8 at Grand Canyon NP

A joint congressional hearing will be held on Thursday, April 8 at the Shrine of the Ages in Grand Canyon National Park to discuss environmental issues confronting the park.

Bill Hedden, executive director of Grand Canyon Trust; Dave Nimkin, Southwest regional director of National Parks Conservation Association; and Nikki Cooley, a Navajo river guide, will testify along with others before the House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands and the Subcommittee on Water and Power. They will speak about threats posed by uranium mining in the region and management of the Colorado River as it flows from Glen Canyon Dam.
