Public Lands Commemoration Forum
Phoenix, Arizona   September 27, 2012

Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, former Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt, Lisa Atkins, retired BLM Director Bob Abbey, and the current Acting BLM Director, Mike Pool, will speak at this forum on September 27, 2012.

These distinguished speakers will discuss the roles of the judicial, executive, and legislative branches of the federal government and how these branches influenced the development of the public lands and public land laws.  History and Law Professor Charles Wilkinson of the University of Colorado, and Arizona State University Professor and current co-host of PBS’s History Detectives, Dr. Eduardo Pagán, will moderate the morning and afternoon sessions, providing additional insight into how the public land laws influence and impact our daily lives.

Public lands play an important role in the history and future of the United States. The Public Lands Foundation, the Bureau of Land Management, the Morrison Institute of Public Policy at Arizona State University, and Arizona Forward are jointly sponsoring the Public Lands Commemoration Forum, where the history, current uses, and future of the public lands will be explored.

This event is open to the public.  Register before September 1, 2012, for $35.00 per person.    Registration after September 1, 2012, will be $50.00.  Student registration is $20.00.
