Who We Are

Founded in 1985, Grand Canyon Trust is a regional, non-profit, conservation organization dedicated to defending the Colorado Plateau by finding common sense and balanced solutions for the problems it faces. The Trust advocates for clean air; clean and available drinking water; preservation of open spaces, native plants and animals; and archeological and historical sites.

Our Public Policy Role

The Trust’s role is to protect the public’s interest and provide much needed checks and balances to ensure the region’s resources remain intact for future generations and to prevent vested special interests from exerting too much control over public policy.
We use all the tools in the advocacy toolbox including media, lobbying, grassroots activism, collaboration and litigation.

The Mission Of The Grand Canyon Trust

Our mission is to protect and restore the Colorado Plateau – its spectacular landscapes, flowing rivers, clean air, diversity of plants and animals, and areas of rare beauty and solitude

Our Vision

We work toward a region where generations of people and all of nature can live in harmony. Our vision for the Colorado Plateau one hundred years from now is:

  • A region still characterized by vast open spaces with restored, healthy ecosystems and habitat for all native plants and animals.
  • A sustaining relationship between human communities and the natural environment.
  • People living and visiting here who are willing and enthusiastic stewards fo the region’s natural resources and beauty.
