Southwestern Renewable Energy Conference (Back to Air Quality and Energy Program Index)
Beginning in 2001, the Grand Canyon Trust, Northern Arizona University, Sandia National Laboratories, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and Western Resource Advocates have teamed up to host the Southwest Renewable Energy Conference. The Conference is held at Northern Arizona University, in conjunction with the Southwest Sustainability Expo, hosted by the Greater Flagstaff Economic Council.
The Conference provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information about renewable energy. It is made up of two tracks of panel sessions: Policy and Technical. Together with plenary sessions the Conference presents a wide range of information aimed at encouraging thoughtful discussion of the issues regarding the development of wind, solar, biomass, geothermal and other forms of renewable energy on tribal, federal, state and private lands. Sessions are designed to be interactive and provide time for audience participation. Receptions and events are scheduled to provide time for participants to network and share ideas. Speakers and Moderators are invited based on their experiences, expertise and knowledge of renewable energy promotion and development. The Trust believes that this conference and gatherings like it are critical to the future development of a stable and successful renewable energy industry.
