I came to the Trust as a volunteer with Western State University’s Wildlife Society to experience hidden and ecologically important areas around the plateau. The canyon lands have given me so much inspiration, I wanted to give my time and energy back.
Planting willows at Rachel's Pool was special because we were utilizing and sharing resources from other restoration sites. We were simply sharing the abundance of nature in an intentional and ecologically-sound manner.
I remember watching a pronghorn running parallel to our convoy on the way to a project site. I was struck by the speed, agility, and total freedom in the movements of this beautiful creature.
My grandfather, Robert Porter, always emphasized the importance of considering the impact of my recreational and hunting pursuits, because, as a part of nature myself, there is more at stake than my own enjoyment.
