Vision
The vision of the Grand Canyon Trust volunteer program is to create a sustainable relationship between the residents of the Colorado Plateau and the natural environment by building a community of willing and enthusiastic volunteer stewards.
Goals
The Trust's volunteer program goals are to:
- Use volunteers to implement key conservation projects that restore healthy ecosystems; maintain and enhance habitat for native plants and animals; and support cultural and economic sustainability on the Colorado Plateau.
- Provide a meaningful opportunity for residents of the Colorado Plateau to have a hands-on experience contributing to the protection of this unique and spectacular landscape.
- Work in partnership and collaboration with government and non-government organizations to further our mission.
Objectives
The objectives of our volunteer program are to:
- Treat each volunteer with respect and as an important part of the Trust team;
- Always provide meaningful work that will be a rewarding experience for the volunteer;
- Clearly define the expectations of the Trust and of the volunteers in advance of all volunteer projects;
- Recognize each volunteer for hers/his efforts and contributions to the success of the Trust;
- Provide skills, knowledge, or training that will enhance the volunteer's understanding of the cultural and ecological value of protecting the Colorado Plateau;
- Carry out all projects in a safe and healthy manner.
Please note: The volunteer program is seasonal and operates out of our Flagstaff, Arizona headquarters.
