Trees Fellowships
The Grand Canyon Trust is seeking applicants for its first annual Trees Fellowships. The Trust is a regional conservation organization dedicated to the protection and restoration of the wild lands and rivers, native species, and clean air of the Colorado Plateau in southern Utah and northern Arizona.
(see www.grandcanyontrust.org for more information about the Trust)
The Trees Fellowships are established to advance the organization’s Mission by fostering broader public appreciation of the conservation challenges facing the canyon country, and by publicly exploring the steps society must take to sustain the health of this magnificent part of the world. A secondary goal of the Fellowships is to nurture the community of artists and communicators who will responsibly raise their voices on behalf of these issues.
The Trust will award a total of at least $50,000 in Fellowships each year during the next decade to writers, journalists, scholars, film makers and other artists who will devote themselves to producing inspiring work that builds public appreciation and understanding of conservation on the Colorado Plateau. Proposals will be considered for any duration from a month up to a year and in any amount up to $50,000. Preference will be given to applicants who reside on the Colorado Plateau or agree to do so during the period of their Fellowship.
Applications are due before February 29th, 2008 and should state briefly (2 page maximum) the project you propose to complete during the Fellowship and should explain clearly why your proposed work fits with the Mission of the Grand Canyon Trust. Attach a budget, a copy of your resume, and one sample of your work (if appropriate) and send to:
