| Mercury is a global pollutant that cycles in the environment, exchanging among air, soil, and water, and back again because of both natural phenomena and human activities. Exposure to mercury can cause significant health problems. The AMA has released an important report tht briefly reviews the major anthropogenic (human-caused emissions) sources of mercury in the United States, the mobility of environmental mercury, and actions taken by the EPA and the U.S. government to address these issues.
