Perhaps as early as tomorrow, November 10, Congressman Richard Pombo's (R-CA) proposal to change the 1872 Mining Law to allow the federal government to sell public lands to mining companies and developers will be voted on in Congress. If passed, this proposal would end the ban on giveaways of public lands in effect since 1995 and allow public lands containing fortunes in precious metals and other resources to be sold to mining companies for a pittance. Mining companies wouldn't even have to mine the lands, they can sell them off to developers or develop the lands themselves for a hefty profit if they want. We need your help to stop this potential fire sale. For more information and/or to take action now, please go to this link.
