Local Utah officials nix Toquop, now Governor must be convinced

The news just keeps getting better in Washington County, Utah.  On Wednesday evening at the Utah Division of Environmental Quality hearing at the Dixie Center, St. George Mayor Dan McArthur announced the St. George City Council's decision to oppose the Toquop coal-fired power plant.

Saturday the Washington County Commisioners withdrew their support.

This is an absolutely amazing turn around and it happened because so many of you stood up and spoke out.  What an incredible experience these past few months have been, beginning with the November BLM presentation on Toquop where citizens were not even allowed to speak, to Wednesday evening when Utah state officials came to St. George just to hear what you had to say.

Now we must convince Governor Jon Huntsman to follow the lead of our local elected officials.  We have just learned that Governor Huntsman's office is taking phone calls and keeping a tally of those for, and those opposed, to the construction of the coal-fired Toquop power plant.

CALL RIGHT NOW* ~ 801-538-1000

All you have to do is say you are opposed or you support the Toquop coal-fired power plant.

*Calls are accepted during regular business hours Monday thru Friday.
