CPE - CTA (4FRI intro)

Take a wiff. Vanilla or butterscotch?

The jury is split — some say ponderosa pines smell like vanilla. Others say butterscotch. But regardless of your sweet leaning, forests in northern Arizona need our help. Decades of forest supression has led to unnaturally dense stands that threaten severe wildfire. Learn more about what we're doing to improve the health of ponderosa forests ›

CPE - CORONA

Public lands and coronavirus

We’d like to encourage our members, supporters, and all public land lovers to stay safe and avoid non-essential travel at this time.

Many of the hikes and destinations featured on the Colorado Plateau Explorer are located in remote areas or near rural communities with limited healthcare resources. Counties in southern Utah have closed campgrounds, RV parks, hotels, and Airbnbs in an effort to avoid straining local healthcare systems. We hope you'll use the Colorado Plateau Explorer to plan your trip for the future. These magnificent lands will be here waiting for you then.
