Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument Complaint

This case challenges President Donald J. Trump’s unlawful December 4, 2017 proclamation that attempts to revoke monument status and protections from roughly half of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. The President’s unlawful action strips monument protection from nearly 900,000 acres of federal public lands — or nearly half of the monument — and leaves remarkable fossil, cultural, scenic, and geologic treasures exposed to immediate and ongoing harm.
