Phone 2 Action - Designate Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni

On April 11, 2023, the Grand Canyon Tribal Coalition, including members of the Havasupai Tribe, Hopi Tribe, Hualapai Tribe, Kaibab Paiute Tribe, Las Vegas Band of Paiute Tribe, Moapa Band of Paiutes, Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah, Navajo Nation, San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe, Yavapai-Apache Nation, Pueblo of Zuni, and the Colorado River Indian Tribes, asked President Biden to protect about 1 million acres of their ancestral homelands by designating Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni Grand Canyon National Monument.

Please urge President Biden to:

  • Honor tribes and designate Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni Grand Canyon National Monument.

Some key points you might include:

  • The monument would protect sacred sites, cultural sites, and precious water sources that flow into the Colorado River.
  • The federal public lands within the proposed monument boundary are ancestral lands and the tribes maintain strong cultural connections here to this day.
  • These tribes are the original stewards of these lands.

Please take a few minutes to personalize your message, share your experience of the Grand Canyon, and explain why this new monument matters to you personally. Personalizing your message makes a huge difference.

Act now. Send a personal note to President Biden.
