After the Dragon Bravo Fire
Rebuild the Grand Canyon’s North Rim
The National Park Service wants to hear from you about how to rebuild the North Rim after the 2025 Dragon Bravo Fire destroyed key buildings and infrastructure. Share your opinion now
Take Action
The north rim of the Grand Canyon lost over 100 buildings during the 2025 Dragon Bravo Fire. Now is the time to rebuild the North Rim, keeping in mind the voices of Native American tribes and Native communities, critical infrastructure needs, the health of the surrounding forests, and support for the rural communities whose economies depend on the park.
The National Park Service is asking for your opinion on the future experience you want to have at the North Rim. Here are some points you might include in your comments:
- Please retain the remote, quiet character of the North Rim by prioritizing its natural values, views, and solitude. Consider locating development away from the rim to protect the visitor experience.
- Please commit to incorporating the leadership and perspectives of the Grand Canyon’s associated Native American tribes in the design, building, and benefits of the North Rim. From signs and interpretation to job opportunities to gathering spaces, the North Rim should elevate the history and connection of associated tribes and Native communities.
- Please design infrastructure and buildings with conservation measures (like low water and energy requirements) and longevity in mind.
