Protect all National Monuments petition

National Monuments Petition

Politicians and Washington D.C. insiders are attacking our national monuments. They’re working to remove protections from important cultural landscapes designated as national monuments, open them up for mining and drilling, or sell them off.

They’re also attacking the Antiquities Act, the law that allows presidents to designate national monuments. Show your support for protecting our monuments, including Bears Ears, Grand Staircase-Escalante, and Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni, by signing the petition.

Petition

Protect all national monuments

Since 1906, presidents of both parties have used the Antiquities Act to protect natural and cultural landscapes across the United States as national monuments. These monuments preserve natural and cultural heritage, including wildlife habitat, clean water, and places of great cultural and spiritual importance.

Please add your name to the petition to show elected officials, the president, and the federal government that the public supports:

  • Protecting and preserving our national monuments’ original boundaries
  • Honoring cooperative agreements with tribal nations that allow tribes to help manage their ancestral lands
  • Protecting fossils, petrified wood, and other objects of scientific interest
  • Protecting diverse plant life and wildlife habitat for bears, pronghorn, desert bighorn sheep, elk, deer, California condors, and thousands of other species.
  • Protecting critical water sources, including waters that flow into the Colorado River
  • Protecting cultural and religious places of great importance

Please take a few minutes to personalize your message, share your experiences and connections to specific national monuments, and explain why protecting monuments matters to you personally. Your comments will be shared with decision-makers in Utah, Arizona, and Washington D.C. to demonstrate broad public support for national monuments.
