Protect the Bears Ears region from the White Mesa Mill Protect Bears Ears from Radioactive Waste

The White Mesa uranium mill has been paid millions to bury radioactive waste a mile from Bears Ears National Monument, putting people and the environment at risk.

Petition

Please urge decision-makers to protect the Bears Ears cultural landscape and prevent the White Mesa Mill from charging millions to dispose of other industrial and military facilities’ radioactive wastes.

The mill’s radioactive waste-disposal business:

  • Pollutes air and land and puts public health at risk.
  • Places the burden of radioactive contamination on the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe’s nearby White Mesa community.
  • Endangers the Bears Ears cultural landscape.

If the mill wants to provide waste-disposal services, it should have to comply with laws and regulations governing commercial radioactive-waste disposal. Please sign the petition if you agree.
