Plateau Pick-up Lines

by Ellen Heyn, Digital Media Director

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. Here are some Colorado Plateau-inspired pick-up lines for your Valentine.

Let’s face it. We don’t all speak the language of love.

Few of us can recite Shakespeare’s love sonnets, let alone pen our own lyrical verse. Heck, most of us leave it to Hallmark to woo our valentines. This year, let the landscape do the talking with these plateau-inspired pick up lines:

1. Humphrey’s Peak

Humphrey's Peak

Can you carry me down the mountain now that you’ve swept me off my feet?

Climb the highest peak in Arizona and tell your date he or she makes you feel like you’re on the top of the world. This trail climbs over 3,000 feet to the summit of the San Francisco Peaks. You’ll be huffing and puffing when you get to the top, but you can always blame your valentine for taking your breath away.

2. Angels Landing

Angel's Landing

Can I take your picture to prove that angels really do exist?

Hold your sweetheart’s hand on this hair-raising traverse to one of the most spectacular views of Zion Canyon. This trail ascends a narrow sandstone fin with sheer cliffs that drop 1,400 feet to the canyon floor. Between the scenery and spending time with your special someone, you’ll feel like you died and went to heaven.

3. Queen’s Garden Loop

Bryce Canyon

Calling you mine would be my crowning achievement.

Treat your date like royalty and take a tour of Bryce Canyon’s rock castles on the Queen’s Garden Trail. Duck behind a rock throne for a quick kiss, continue meandering past the whimsical formations, and climb back up to the rim in time for sunset.

4. Jasper Forest Trail

Petrified Forest National Park

You’re a cut above the rest!

Take your honey on a lovers’ stroll down the Jasper Trail and convince her she’s the most precious gem of all. Enjoy the colorful landscape and the pieces of petrified wood scattered across the landscape.
