Cedar Mesa Campground is a small, primitive campground located in a remote section of Capitol Reef National Park. The campground borders the Waterpocket Fold, a slanted ridge of multi-hued sandstone that is the defining feature of the park. To the east, you see the Henry Mountains rising in the distance.
Each campsite has a picnic table and fire pit, as well as access to the campground pit toilet. No reservations are accepted, and campsites are first-come first-served. A trail to Red Canyon leads from the campground into a large box canyon (4.5 mile round-trip).
Note: This campground has no water, be sure to bring your own!
From the junction of Hwy 24 and Notom Bullfrog Road, drive south on Notom Bullfrog Road for about 21 miles. Turn right at the dirt pulloff marked “Cedar Mesa Campground.”
