Stop at the Bear River Ranger Station in the Uinta Mountains
The Bear River Ranger Station is located in the Uinta Mountains near the Utah/Wyoming border. Its name comes from nearby Bear River, which is the longest river in North America that does not flow into an ocean. The station is open seasonally (June – October) with rangers to answer questions about the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
Recreational opportunities in the area include camping, fishing, cross-country skiing, hiking, and snowmobiling. Recreation passes, which are required to use trails and facilities in the area, are available here in addition to maps, firewood permits, and forest information.
