Stop at the Wildcat Rest Area and Information Center on Boulder Mountain
While maps, books, and pamphlets line the shelves of Wildcat Information Center today, the building was initially constructed as a ranger station in the late 1930s. The Forest Service transformed the little white house into a visitor center, which is open seasonally from May—September and run by volunteers. For those traveling between the small Utah towns of Torrey and Boulder, the Wildcat Rest Area and Information Center is an easy stop along UT 12. Stretch your legs, browse the retail goods, or use the restroom before hopping back in the car. Cell phone coverage is spotty on Boulder Mountain, but an emergency radio service to Loa is available at Wildcat during the months it’s open.
