The Grand Canyon Trust has a long history of advocating for the protection of the most valuable open spaces in northern Arizona.
The Trust is working with conservation interests throughout the state to develop an initiative for state trust land reform. Although the initiative could be ready in time for the November 2010 election, a more realistic projection for initiative placement is 2012.
This map shows conservation lands proposed for the Flagstaff area. Conservation targets include the NAU Centennial Forest lands, lands near Dry Lake, Rogers Lake, Picture Canyon, Turkey Hills, Walnut Canyon, and Fort Tuthill. To download this map as a 1.6 MB PDF file, click here.
The Trust has supported open space bond measures in Flagstaff and worked on projects involving Dry Lake, Proposition 106, and Proposition 103.
