Officials from the Southern Nevada Water Authority, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and Central Arizona Project sent a letter to Secretary of Interior Salazar and Arizona Strip BLM Director Scott Florence expressing serious concerns about the effects on water supply and water consumer confidence if uranium mining is allowed to proceed adjacent to Grand Canyon and its watersheds that supply drinking water for over 25 million people.
