Volunteers in the field, northern Arizona. |
Who volunteers? Students, retired professionals,
stay-at-home moms, youth groups, clubs -- just about
anyone with a desire to help the Trust complete field-based
conservation projects throughout northern Arizona.
Our program (see vision and goals below) provides
Colorado Plateau residents with meaningful, hands-on
experiences contributing to the protection of this
unique and spectacular landscape. Volunteers carry
out conservation projects that help protect and restore
healthy ecosystems.
Last year over 120 volunteers joined us in the field,
doing everything from forest assessments on the Kaibab Plateau
to removing invasive, non-native
vegetation from sensitive riparian areas. The volunteer
conservation season generally runs from March to October
with commitments of one day, a weekend, extended
trips and self-scheduled projects available. Our collaborators
include the Wildlife Land Trust, Bureau of Land Management,
Arizona Game and Fish, the National Park Service,
and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Many of this year's projects will focus on the Kane and Two Mile ranches, which were recently purchased by the Trust. Please join us for what will be a fun, challenging, and rewarding volunteer season!
