Michellsey is originally from Sháá tóhi, Arizona. She graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2009 and has spent her career working with communities and across landscapes in the West. She began as an outdoor educator and river guide, later moving into river restoration and community-based science. She then worked at the Arizona Department of Water Resources managing groundwater regulation across the state. Now back home in northern Arizona, Michellsey serves as the Grand Canyon Trust’s water advocacy manager, working alongside tribal and rural communities to safeguard groundwater in the Grand Canyon and Little Colorado River regions. She brings a blend of technical knowledge and a relational approach to water advocacy, grounded in both Diné lifeways and lived experiences on the land.
