In 2016, less than 1 percent of Grand Canyon visitors spent a night below the rim. Photographer Pete McBride and author Kevin Fedarko, on the other hand, have spent dozens of nights in the big ditch while thru-hiking the Grand Canyon. Between 2015 and 2016, the duo hiked the entire length of the Grand Canyon, some 800 trail-less miles, in sections, for National Geographic. Their words and photos appeared in the September 2016 issue. Now, more than a year later, they're hitting the tour circuit to share lessons they learned from their trek and threats to the canyon they discovered along the way.
The tour kicks off in Lone Tree, Colorado this week, and will be traveling to a handful of major cities in the coming year. If you love the Grand Canyon, join Kevin, Pete, and National Geographic Live, in partnership with the Grand Canyon Trust, to see photos and videos of the pair's epic hike. We hope to cross paths soon!
