Located just a few miles from the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe's White Mesa community and a mile from Bears Ears National Monument in southeastern Utah, the White Mesa Mill is the United States' only operating conventional uranium mill. The mill processes uranium from mines across the Colorado Plateau as well as radioactive waste from contaminated sites across North America and the world. The mill belches smoke from its stacks and dumps radioactive waste into ponds built atop ancient burial grounds.
Join the White Mesa Concerned Community, the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, and supporters at a rally to protect the Ute community, health, water, air, land, culture, and sacred sites from the White Mesa Mill. The rally will start at 11 a.m., followed by the spiritual and protest walk to the uranium mill. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water.
