Originally hailing from Michigan, Lisa moved west to attend graduate school in Utah, trading the rolling hills of the Midwest for towering mountains and deep canyons. After working as a fish biologist along the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, she joined the Grand Canyon Trust to lead citizen science and stewardship projects. She cares deeply about translating science in a way that is not only understandable, but also motivates individuals to appreciate the beautiful places, unique plants, and awe-inspiring wildlife of the Southwest.
Whether tucked into lush creekside vegetation, soaring high above rocky cliffs, or flitting through old-growth forests, over 200 bird species call the Grand Staircase-Escalante region home.
